Noel Casey Ph.D.

Director of Analytical Operations
Center for Biometals & Metallomics

I obtained my B.Sc. (1998) and Ph.D. (2003) in Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Technology , Sligo, Republic of Ireland. My doctoral studies focused on developing novel utilization of Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) instrumentation for environmental applications.

I conducted postdoctoral studies as a research scientist (2004-2007) working with Dr. John Olesik and his research group in the Department of Earth Sciences at Ohio State University. My research interests were focused on fundamental research underlying the application of ICP-MS for trace elemental analysis.

During my postdoctoral studies, I gained extensive research, operations, and maintenance experience using a wide range of analytical instruments, including ICP-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) and ICP-Mass Spectrometry (Q-ICP-MS, SF-ICP-MS).
